Misho gallery officially closed in 2020 after featuring local and international artists for over 10 years. “It was a wonderful journey, but I was ready for a change. The pandemic was a dark time for many of us, but it gave me a lot of time to refocus my visions and work on my art.”
Being fortunate enough to be in Thailand for the most of 2020 and 2021, Misho created a body of work named “In Exile.” Working with the Swiss embassy in Bangkok he was invited for a month-long solo show at the Alliance Francaise in the same city.
Encouraged by the success of that show and now back in California, he found himself motivated to further explore some of the techniques he developed in Thailand. Not being limited by his temporary status and a smaller work space, and using his former gallery as his personal studio, he was able to work with larger canvases.
But while Misho has experienced joy since his return, the current political strife at home and the ongoing war in Ukraine has shifted the mood of his work toward a more somber tone. "Events around us make an impact no matter where we are." As an artist, Misho's response to these events is reflected in his latest works “Back from Exile”.
